Marcel Hemard Champagne

I have just acquired a bottle of Marcel Hemard Champagne, Brut Origine Premier Cru NV.

I can find virtually no reference to this house on the Internet, is anyone familiar with it? If so what do you think of it; what style is it?

Thanks...

Origine Champagne

Marcel Hemard is a premier cru Champagne. Almost a century ago, Champagne graded it vineyards by determining those that has ideal exposure and, more importantly, significant amounts of chalk in the vineyards soils. The growers, the winemakers and the critical industry members tasted thousands of Champagnes to determine how each of the region's vineyard should be measured against the others. The two top categories are Premier Cru and Grand Cru, and these two top tiers have, over years, exhibited the outrageous richness of great Champagne, as well as its uncanny ability to age gracefully, growing richer with year in the cellar.

Each bottle of Marcel Hemard is numbered, reflecting its small, yet quality production. This Champagne is a created in a cooperative environment, unlike many of the large Champagne houses that utilize the negotiant system. A non-vintage premier cru, this Champagne is bright, yet creamy with notes of golden delicious apples, lime zest, minerals, and hints of baked pears. A lovely gift at a fantastic price.

Was $39.99 -Now $34.99

It is December 31,2006 and I too aquired a bottle of Marcel Hemard Origine Premier Cru Champagne. I intend to toast and bring in the New Year with this bottle. There is only this website and a smattering of others that have any information about this champagne. Why? I hope to come back and state,"It was wonderful". The only other information is that this brand falls under the Champagne Unions. Any other comments? Well, from California, you all have a great New Years Eve 2006. Wishing you the best 2007, Sandra
