More newbie advertures.

I needed to go to wal-mart today so I looked to see what their wine selection was like. It's actually not bad. Maybe I was just happy to see any wine in there at all because I wasn't really expecting to. So I got a Kendall-Jackson Merlot because I want to try a better Merlot but I'm not quite ready for the Duckhorn. Kendall-Jackson was recommended to me as a good name. I also got a Yellow Tail Shiraz and a Little Penguin Chardonnay. I'm almost finished with the dummies book and I have learned a lot. I have a little rack in the closet and the temperature stays around 72 to 73F. Is that too hot for general storage? I'm going to look into getting a little wine fridge at some point.

Cheers,

Bruce

Check out those two, I'd bet if you only spent one or two dollars more, you might find a Shiraz or Chard that you liked better than them.

I don't know how much they cost where you are, but the Yellow Tail Shiraz goes for about $7 US here. I drink a $9 Shiraz (Nederberg) from South Africa that tastes (to me, at least) much better than the Yellow Tail (and the Little Penguin Shiraz too). Jumping up another $2 to $11 gets me two other Australian Shirazs, Nine Stones and Red Knot. Both are pretty good. That's about my price limit though.

Every once in a while, I have another Australian Shiraz called Vasse Felix. That one's about $13, but I really like it a lot.

Oh, one other thing...RH Phillips (California) makes a pretty decent Sav Blanc for $8 or so. Well, I mean, *I* like it.

I'll see if I can find those. Part of my buying decisions today were due to the limited selection at Wal-mart. I do plan to try the other varietals from Yellow Tail though. It's a good price and something I can put on the grocery list when my wife goes there. I found the Shiraz enjoyable but it's the only Shiraz I've had so far.
