Ready for the weekend

I went by a grocery store today that's a little more upscale than wal-mart. They have two isles of alcohol, much of it wine. I came home with 5 bottles. I'm not usually a quantity over quality guy, but I'm trying to get an education here and don't have a lot in the wine budget right now. Anyway, I got a few brands I read about on a cheap wine review site. I got a Merlot and a Pinot Grigio called Fish Eye. I got a Twin Fin Pinot Noir and a Robert Mondavi Riesling. I also got something I probably shouldn't have but it was a 1.5 liter bottle for 5.99 so I figured what the hell. It's a Livingston Cabernet Sauvignon. Anyway, so nothing impressive but should be a good start for me. I'm hoping my dummies book will show up today so I can learn a little about what I'm doing for the next grocery store trip.

Cheers,

Bruce

I don't know these wines, but hope you post your impressions. Remember the main thing is what you like!

They are all cheap and probably not of much interest to most. I have tried the Fish Eye Pinot Grigio and it's not bad. It seems tangy and bright to me but I don't have much to compare it to. I'm a complete newbie to wine.

I'd be interested in hearing about the other Fish Eye varieties, particulary the reds, if you ever try them out.

I do have a Fish Eye Merlot I'll probably drink soon. I'll post what I think once I open it. I heard about Fish Eye from:

They have the Cabernet Sauvignon on the front page right now.

A splendid beginning! :-) Tangy and bright you say. Now, you'll compare your next Pinot Grigio with that impression in your mind and judge by it. Something along this line: Hmm, a different sort of taste here - not tangy, but something else - maybe limey. Think I liked the first one better...

And so it goes :-)
