Odd companion

I was sitting around after dinner on the patio with a few friends Saturday, smoking cigars and sipping wine. It was much too warm for Port, and the cigars were sort of an afterthought anyway.

I happened to have in my hand a glass of nice, rich California Chardonnay. This would not have been my preferred choice to accompany the Partagas black label maduro torpedo I had in my other hand, but it was a surprisingly good accompaniment to the spicy/chocolatey flavors of the cigar.

Has anyone else here tried Chardonnay with cigars, and _liked_ the combination?

I like to have an occasional cigar. But as far as I am concerned I think a cigar ruins the taste of any wine.

Thus I will have with a Cognac.

Now that comment is funny as hell Dick! You are suppose to be my mentor in this group. Guess I'll have to dump you for something prettier and younger ;-)

Me neither - except for Port, of course. Still, this big, oaky Chardonnay was _nice_ with that cigar. I can't explain that. Maybe you had to be there.

I'll have to try that again...

Blunt? Is that rhyming slang...

And Joe - are you allowed to indulge in such ribaldry since your nuptials?
