Packing wines for travel

What is the best way to pack wine for a vacation?

I usually fly to a home port and leave on a cruise from there.

The way I normally do my wines is place them in a 2 gallon Ziploc bag, wrapped in bubble wrap then wrapped again in a towel or some of my travel clothes.

I've never had a problem with bottles breakage or the taste of the wine being any different than usual (I've read that shaking bottles or exposing them to extreme heat or cold can ruin the flavor)

So my question is do you have any other suggestions for traveling with wines?

Actually I save the shipping liner styrofoam containers that I get when I buy wine from out of state. Works like a charm and takes up little more than the bottles.

Someone I used to work with would buy a lot of bottles in the U.S., wrap them in bubble-wrap and put them in his checked luggage. Usually approx. 30 bottles per trip, to Asia.

In more than a dozen trips he's lost only one bottle.

I've travelled from France and California to NYC probably ten times, with bottles simply surrounded by clothing in a soft-sided suitcase, and I've never had anything break.
