QPR Wines for September

There was some discussion of keeping a "recommended wines" list in theFAQs in other thread. That might be a little unwieldy, so here's analternate idea. On the first of each month (obviously too late forSeptember) some start a thread entitled "QPR Wines for September".Please post up to 5 wines that you thought were a great value and feelothers should look for.1) Does a price limit of $15US or your local equivalent seem aboutright (we can also do a splurge thread).2) I'd encourage each poster to limit themselves to one post of 5 valuewines per month, to keep things from being dominated by a few. I couldeasily name 15-25 ,but if a few of us did that it would make it so thatthe suggestions of those who only suggest one would get buried.3) Please just post the wines, no commentary. This might be hard onverbosepeople like myself, but might encourage those who might otherwise behesitant (if 7 people posted before you, each with comments, might notfeel as comfortable just posting your wine). Certainly feel free tostart a thread of your tasting impressions of any wine(s) and be asverbose as you want!4) No bashing of others' suggestions. Let's try to be supportive aspossible. If someone posts a wine you hate, feel free to start athread of your tasting impressions of the wine and be as verbose as youwant as to how horrible is.5) Please try to be sure that the wines you suggest are reasonablyavailable (wines only at one store, or at a winery is less valuable asa monthly resource)6) If we continue this, how about a 2 month limit on posting any wine.This will ensure the list is a bit fresher.Whew. Sound ok? This is an experiment, but I for one am willing to giveit a try. To keep this thread as clean as possible, I'll post asecond thread where you can make suggestions, call me an ass for tryingthis, etc. Can we try just posting suggested wines here? I'll followwith my suggestions.

(Pgh digression) Dave, I've only been to that store once, while it was still being expanded. I usually go to the Oxford Center store, downtown, or the Centre Avenue store in Shadyside, soon we will have a huge giant store by Whole Foods, East Liberty (which might not have been here when you last visited...) The Waterworks store is pretty swell, too, but when one must rely on public transportation...

Since you are new to Italian wine I would suggest the

2004 Masciarelli Montepulciano d'Abruzzo should be between $5-$10 a bottle depending on your area

Much better then the Citra.
