Re: 1970 Trotanoy (was: Most expensive wine tasted?)

Do you remember how it was? Drink or hold?

Drink - with great pleasure.

My note from a few years ago:

Trotanoy - either my favourite or second favourite wine of the evening, depending on whether you choose for drinking now or in the future. Big dark wine and a big dark berry nose, followed by wonderful fruit and exceptional length, it is no longer too tannic, but smooth velvety and sensuous.

(The wine I compared it with, that needed more time, was the 70 Petrus).

Thanks for the notes. I guess my bottle (lying at 50°F since the late 1970s) might be slightly more backwords, I'll give it a few extra years.

Michael - the Trot I tasted had also been cellared at 50 deg. since release, so it should be pretty much the same, and the notes are 5 years old. Enjoy (and tell us about it).

Or come for a visit, and I'll open a 64 Trot to go with it.......

Good idea. Where are you based? I might be in Napa from Sept 16 to

A little North, unfortunately - Vancouver BC.

Slightly too much -
