Ray, remember back in the 1970's when we tried to make some barley wine? I think your brother, Jim, buried some. Did he ever dig it back up?

Unfortunately, probably true.... though it would make better moonshine :)

My wife and I collect unusual wines; so far we have tomato wine (yes, it's as bad as it sounds), ginger wine (not too bad), key lime wine (she said it's awful) and cashew wine (the label says that it's "premium" cashew wine, but I doubt there's much difference to "regular" cashew wine!)

Cheers! Gary

Sorry to hear that. I've had very good tomato wine; it was made dry and looked like a white wine. It was a bit on the yellow side if anything, I did not consider it a fault.

moonshine :)

cashew wine,

Greetings Gary, There is a winemaker in my area (Eastern PA) called Long Trout that turns out several odd-sounding wines:

1) Tomato - not bad; I think they added spices to it. 2) Onion - they say this adds flavor to a roast. 3) Watermelon - they also do Honeydew.

Hmmm.... spiced tomato wine. Similar to a bloody mary perhaps?

The onion wine added to a roast could be flavorful.... as opposed to plain onions or perhaps a stock?

Watermelon and Honeydew sound more line wine coolers, but whatever :)

I always find it interesting to see what can be made into liquor or wine....

Cheers, Gary
