St H, after my team was beaten by Fiji, i have slowly recovered enough to watch the qfinals. We have the boys playing Oz this afternoon, which I shall watch with Brains SA, also known as skull attack, a fine Welsh ale.



This evening my soul will be in Cardiff and the big decision is what to drink. I think I will be on the beer, as I have found live rugby and wine do not mix, ie, you drink it like beer and fall asleep in the second half.



Also OT, we will be in NZ next October for our sons wedding, they live in Q'town. It will be our third visit this centuary!! My sister in law lives in Rangiora, so will be another vineyard crawl ;-)

Kick-off, Australia vs. England is at 2am here!!! (Yes, I will be watching) All-Blacks vs. France is at 8am NZ time - almost civilised (over bacon and eggs)

Next September, I hope we will be in the south of France again, but will be home again in October.

Make sure you fly through Auckland, and spend a day or two in the north.

Will be delighted to show you around.

JFTMOR, your lordship, what's the alcohol content?

I am asking because sauvignon blanc world is not bi-centered (NZ & Loire), but there is a trio: the province of Styria in Austria makes marvellous sauvignons, too.

They even organize a "World Sauvignon Congress 2008" next August:

I have a single bottle of Sepp Moser Grüner Veltliner 'Breiter Rain' 2005 awaiting an appropriate occasion.

What would be an appropriate food match, Michael?

No problem with food. Grüner Veltliner is the most versatile and food friendly grape on this planet. It does even well with notorious "problem kids" such as asparagus or artichokes.

So feel free to serve whatever you like.
