I found the wine prices to be higher in touristy areas.Prices in the more rural/remote ares to be more reasonable.I visited the Tuscany region in

AFAIK each states' ABC board has it's own limits and restrictions.Duty free on person is 3 litres,duty is due on amount over that based on alcohol conent and where you fly back into USA. For more info check

Actually, you're only allowed to include *one* liter of wine as part of your $800 duty-free allowance - details at

scroll down to read about alcohol. As practical matter, though, the tax on anything extra amounts to pennies per bottle and customs almost never bothers collecting it. I say "almost" because I assume some surly inspector *has* collected it but no one I know who has brought wine back has ever paid.
