Hello, Considering the respectable age of said Chablis, I looked up the producer who is alive and well and lives in Creches sur Saone. Apparently, they no longer do Chablis (they did mine as negociants), msotly dealing in Cotes d´Or and Beujolais, and RHone wines. I sent a report to themn concerning the bottle and today received a very graccious thank you from their export manager, THierry Seve who expressed astonishment that any such bottle still existed in the world (well - it doesn´t - we drank it, right?) and thanked me profusely for letting themknow. He concluded that this testified to the longevity of their wines, no doubt he´ll use it in marketing - should be worth the odd case of Beaujolais now and then, right, Thierry? Wink wink? Nudge nudge? Sorry. Just kidding.
I have to say it - despite my atrocious French, I always find corresponding with French producers and similar the most rewarding (except US, and possibly Italians).
Cheers
Nils Gustaf
