Simple Questions on Red Wine

My wife, who just got her (MD), tells me to drink RED wine for cardio-health benefits.. Here I have 2-questions for the group:

1) I also like occasional "ROSE, BLUSH, or WHITE ZINFANDEL" as a party drink with "peanuts & pretzels". Out of these three, HOW are they all Blended/MADE, and what are their RED wine (SKINS) mix content? 2) Has anyone heard of health benefits of WHITE wine? Drinking wine - especially white whine - could help to keep the lungs healthy, according to researchers at the University of Buffalo. Results of the study of 1,555 men and women revealed that regular wine drinkers tended to perform better on lung function tests than non-wine drinkers. Furthermore, white wine seemed to better for lung health than rec. Study leader Dr Holger Schunemann suspects that antioxidants present in white wine are responsible for the drinks lung-friendly benefits.

Several of the compounds found in red wine have also been shown to help prevent cancer and to interact with a protein implicated in life span extension.

All are made by pressing the (clear) juice out of red grapes and getting it away from the pigmented skins ASAP. Alas, the health benefits of red wine are due to things produced by extended contact with the skins. Still, if you like it, why not drink it? Not everything has to help your health...

There are studies showing lesser health benefits imparted by the consumption of white wine. Most recently, alcohol consumption has been associated with a lowered risk of Alzheimer's. Of course, excessive alcohol consumption has its health risks, too, as I'm sure your wife has made clear.
