Hello All,
A humble 'school night' wine but one that made me want to write.Cono Sur Pinot Noir 2003 (and not even the Reserve). This Pinot's concentration shows first through a lively, fresh purple red colour. The nose is filled with strawberry, raspberry and cherries, whilst the palate is elegant, structured and balanced.(cribbed from Majestics site but I would have said the same). OK, so Romanee-Conti it isn't, but what a lovely, easily drinkable wine. £4.99 in the UK and a really great wine. Much pleasure and really..well, life-enhancing. Sounds over the top for a simple wine? No, it really was that good.
Having been looking at the 2002 red burgundy list from the Wine Society (alas didn't get all of the Gevrey I'd hoped for) this was an unexpected treat - and a lot cheaper!
Johnners.
