Strange question:)

Hi,

I have a small problem regarding wine and I hope that you might be able to help me:)

2 years ago I was given a bottle of wine as a present. I wasn't too much keen on wines that days, but I remember, that the bottle was dark-green, it was a dry red wine, it had a picture of a knight on a horse on the label, reminding Don Kichote of Dali, if you know what I mean, and I think it was called something like "chevalier noir" - but I'm not quite sure... The only thing that I am sure of, is that it was French:) Drinking it was a marvelous experience to me. It was very smooth... and it's all I can say about it... From that time I started getting familiar with wine and I'm very curious how would I find it today, with a little experience with various bottles:) I can't even say how much was it - as I wrote I was given it as a present (from a patient to be honest, so I can't ask him what was that - we have not seen each other from that time)...

Does anybody have any ideas?... In my local wine store, when I described the bottle they were rather confused, and they told me, that they doubt, if it can be ordered... ;)

"Chevalier Noir" and "wine" on Google returned this American wine:

Obviously not French, but holds a chess knight silhouette on the label.

If you wish to search for wines related to the Cervantes hero, then it's properly "Don Quixote de la Mancha". I don't think the French would even corrupt it to Kichote of Dali.

Ed, my guess is that Merek is referring to the Dali trilogy of Don Quixote, as opposed to Quixote in general. So Quixote Dali would probably be more meaningful. But good find with the Summers. Anyone tried this? Dale

I tried this wine during a visit to Summers Winery back in May. Here was my note about the wine:

2000 Summers Chevalier Noir (Bordeaux Blend) - Nicknamed Black Chevy Nice wine, not too full. Solid aromas and tastes. Good life ahead. Rated - A- (Bought 1 for $32)

I visited the winery mainly to try their Charbono, but this wine and thier Zin were the more impressive wines to me on that day.
