Re: Breathing time - '86/'89/'90 Ch. Lynch-Bages?

Just my 2 cents... '86 = decant and drink, breathing time will oxidize this one '89 = similar situation, maybe 30 minutes ? '90 = you'd be safe with the full 2 hours here... decant it and put it back in the fridge the last 30 minutes to get it back down

I am considering serving either an '86, '89, or '90 Ch. Lynch Bages with > (a nice) dinner. Any thoughts on what might be a reasonable amount of > time to allow them to breath before serving them? Nick, while I find the '86 Lynch-Bages (admittedly based on two tasting) less tannic than many 1986s, it's still an '86. About 2 years ago it showed beautifully about 4-5 hours after decanting. A glass at the Bordeaux Wine Enthusiasts convention showed more tannicly (but I have no clue to how long it had been opened). Bottles and personal tastes can vary, of course. Personally, if I had to guess, I'd say open 1989 2 hours before dinner, 1986 4, 1990 4-6. But trhat's just me. Dale
