[TN] '08 Fourrier Gevrey

In our continuing "sabbatical" from Kiwi wines, we opened tonight with a dinner of roast chicken and kumara mash:

2008 Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin VV (NZD 79) nose: smoke, tart cherry fruit, stones palate: medium body, tight acidity, solid fruity core

Because of the youth of this wine, I'd opened it up an hour ahead of time and poured some into our glasses. After an hour's opening it had a good sense of fruit with a few hints of secondary development. Clearly in its infancy still, but it has a promising life ahead of it. Half the bottle was recorked for later evaluation.

Later evaluation now in: after two days sitting in the recorked bottle, the wine has opened and is now expansive, lush, full of fruit with vibrant acidity. Clearly great things to come for this wine if you have it.

sounds nice I just wish the prices hadn't shot up on Fourrier so much
