[TN] '10 Chermette Nouveau

In search of red wines that are not New Zealand Pinot Noir or Aussie Shiraz, we recently purchased several '10 Beaujolais from a good local retailer. Tonight, with roast chicken, we decided to open:

2010 Pierre Chermette (Dom de Vissoux) Beaujolais "Les Griottes" (NZD 25.99) nose: bright strawberry-raspberry fruit, a hint of herbaceousness palate: lightweight, bright red fruit, good acidity, short finish

All in all, a nice, if simple Gamay. It wasn't until I decided to learn why I'd never seen this particular bottling in the US that I realized that this was Chermette's "Primeur" (aka Beaujolais Nouveau) bottling. Probably a bit long in the tooth at this point, it was a "serious" enough wine that neither Jean nor I could pick it out as BN. Well done!
