thanks,. That was my impression of the previous vintage - tasty and slurpable, but without the gravitas (can you say that about a Beaujolais?) of the CT.

He wasn't talking about the same wine. He was talking 2 categories into which the French lump wines.

Life would be poorer indeed if we only had vin de garde, and never drank vin de soif.

I expected the misunderstanding :-) Vin de garde - is a wine to guard, that is: to keep. Vin de soif - wine for thirst - a quaffer, a refreshement.
