This is Philippe Vatan's basic cuvée, which still sells (départ) for 7 EU, which I consider a very fair price for SC of this quality. (Some of the other cuvées are getting really pricey, I'll leave it to others to decide whether this is a good thing).
Opened a couple hours before the meal (which was a bad match as it turned out).
Nice round bramble and hay nose, that Cabernet Franc thing going.
In the mouth, long black fruits, Loire stones, flint, herbs, nice balance. Still very young but already a pleasure, look forward to tasting over
8 or so years. Good concentration but also quite soft.
