TN: '94 Far Niente Napa Cab

Just curious to how the wine was stored? I still have about 6 left and I drank one last fall and it was still it good shape in both color and flavor. It was stored at 55f since release.

Stored for the first couple of years at around 65 with good humidity. Made a trip across the US from East to west (I guess it's second trip across the country and purchased in rural Rhode Island - I can't vouch for storage at the wholesaler or retailer) and stored in Oregon in an unheated basement room, 58 deg in the winter, and 65 in the summer.

Bi!!: For some reason I was thinking about this as I was headed for dreamland last night, and it might have been a bottle problem... While the cork was in good condition, I remember the fill was just to the top of the shoulders, something I wouldn't have expected but in a much older wine.

Thanks for the update Ronin. I'm in Florida and ordered a bottle of the '94 last night with dinner. It was still quite dark but showing the early stages of maturity with a slight brickish note to the color and some cedar and leather notes on the nose. This particular bottle was a "cave collection" bottle so it's hard to tell how long the restaurant had it (Sal e Pepe on Marco Island) but the "Cave Collection" bottles have a black ring around the capsule and are released by the winery at specific times. One of my closest friends is a member of the Nickel family so I'm blessed with quite an assortment of Far Niente and N&N wines.
