TN: Cantemerle, Zarate, Pepiere

Betsy’s mom was with us, I grilled shrimp and mushrooms, served with quinoa and spinach

2017 Zarate Tras da Vina Albarino Rich with good acids, citrus zest, honeycrisp, just a hint of grass. B+/B

Tbone, zucchini, and ramps on the grill

2008 Ch. Cantemerle This is a bit younger than I usually drink claret, but I really enjoyed, and pretty classic with the steak. Pretty muscular in style, firm tannins and bright acids, rich cassis with tobacco leaf and coffee notes. Nice length. B++

Greenland turbot (really a halibut family member), in a chipotle broth with chickpeas and spinach, with a side salad

2020 Pepiere La Pepie Muscadet Lemon, seashell, a light saline note, light and easy. Maybe not the weight of a Briords, but excellent length for level. B+

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
