TN: Cheap Chianti

Monday Betsy made pasta with a puttanesca sauce and creamed chard. Puttanesca isn't a real wine flatterer in my opinion, so I went with a $7 red, the 2004 Vitae Chianti Colli Senesi. Lighter body, good cherry/dried cherry fruit, a hint of peppery spice. Moderate acidity, light tannins. Rather short on the finish, but certainly decent for the price level. Not worth making a trip for, but if I make a trip near WineLibrary I might grab couple more at this price. B/B-

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C mediocre. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
