I had this yesterday with a Thai fusion dish with curry, coconut, shrimp, and chicken broth. The dish wasn't all that spicy, but still flavors that would go well with a Gewurtz.
The color was light amber, and the nose was grassy. There were other elements I could not describe but which were familiar (I'm not all that good at this :). On the palatte, citrus, melon, and grass. It was soft, not very spicy (surprizing for a gewurtz), though there was a little spice in the back. Well balanced, not very complex, elegant, and no faults I could discern.
This particular wine was opened several =months= ago, and the remainder stored in a half bottle which was recorked (with almost no ullage using my paperclip technique) and put in the fridge. It held up very very well. When I first opened the bottle, with a similar meal, my notes were:
Lemon and grass on the nose (no notes for palate) soft mouthfeel surprizingly not spicy. Neither sweet nor dry
So, what was in the nose I now sense on the palate.
It's a nice wine, but doesn't have much of the charactaristics of a Gewurtz. It's more like a Sauv Blanc with attitude.
