TN: Pillar Box Red 2005

Enjoyed half a bottle of this an evening ago with a good friend and a couple of episodes of Blackadder.

Picked it up for about 9 bucks, and it's a sensational wine for the price. Deep, rich purple-red in colour with a great nose - plum, berries, spice and some sweet cherry. Very fruit forward palate - taste of very ripe and concentrated dark fruits that give it an almost sweet and spicy flavour. Fairly soft, dry tannins that provide a little structure and a nice smooth finish.

Thumbs way up, especially if you're one of those who enjoys these dense Aussie reds with lots of fruit, spice and fairly high alcohol (this was

15%).

Thanks for notes. That's not always my favorite style, but I like to switch up now and again and this sounds like a good candidate that's not too pricey.

So which period Blackadder? :)

Yep, if you feel like going with the big fruit forward reds, this is terrific QPR. Not sure how much weightage you give to Parker points, but WA gave this a 90. I stuck with a simple 'Excellent'.

And it was the Third, btw. Dictionaries being rewritten overnight, and actors being terrorised by the Scottish Play. Hysterical.

One of my all-time favorites (I prefer 2-4, but the 1st season is good, too). All are hysterical, although 4 is also rather moving in last episode. It's been too long, time to add some BA to my Netflix queue!
