Partly it depends on how well they like (and know) wine.

Depends.. If they do like wine I'd suggest half a case of something ageable. A sparkler for each of the next three anniversaries might also be a nice idea - we don't plan for more than three, do we? :-) Anders

I'd say that you cannot go wrong with Champagne. What about a Bollinger Grande Année 1996? Another good choice would be "Amour de Deutz" which is usually a bit more expensive than Bollinger GA, but has a very a propos name.

I also say vintage champagne and I have given it as a gift. If they like wine then there are lots of choices. If not, I'd go with one of the more recognizable names like Dom over Bollinger.

Since the original post is not up on my news reader right now, I'm tacking this onto the thread at THIS point.

I have a habit of giving Vintage Port, if there is a vintage declared during THAT year. However, it is unlikely that you will be able to gift this wine, until their 10th anniversary, or so. Luckily, my best friends were married in '63, '70, '77, '85 and '94, so I am never at a loss for their milestone gifts. Now, if one were married in '93, I might well be out of luck, until Porto Rocha, or someone else, offers a Colhieta from THAT year.
