Wine pairing with pea soup?

Hi ,

I'm going to cook a pea soup this Saturday and I would like some sugestions for wine to go with it.

It's a creamy soup whose main ingredient is (of course) peas. But also curry, mint and a little curry goes into this lovely thing.

I was thinking about serving an Alsace Pinot Gris, but maybe someone has got a better suggestion? Please, any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks in advance.

May be you can try sicilian wine,it is called Altavilla, produced by Firriato.it is blend of %80 Grillo(typical sicilian grape)and %20 Chard.it has enough softness and weight to support the curry taste. D.

Soups are really hard to do IMHO. But, with earthy greens like peas, and maybe you throw a ham-bone in it, how about Orvietto?

You are correct that soups can be extremely challenging to pair with wine. Your Orvietto suggestion is a good one. I might would serve something like a Gavi di Gavi, or perhaps Australian Verdelho.

Cheers!

The Empoda-Costa Brava by Oliver i Conti that I tasted last week would have been perfect. A catalan blend of sauvignon and gewurztraminer, this "extreme" wine had a distinct aroma of pea soup....

I am also with you on the Gavi di Gavi.
