Wineshops in Nice or Cannes

Gentlemen

I am going to the French Riviera later this year and was wondering if any of you kind winelovers would be so kind to point me in the direction of a good wineshop or two in the vincinty of Nice, Cannes and St. Tropez.

Thanks in advance

Hi Thomas,

Nils from this NG spends much time on the Riviera, and I live there permanently, so we should find you some good addresses.

In Cannes and St Tropez you will not find any wine shop worth visiting (IOW, better than the supermarkets).

In Nice you should go to La Part des Anges, it is very good. Also, a small but very original selection is to be found in the back cellar of the vistro Vin sur Vin on rue Biscarra near the Etoile shopping center on the rue Medecin (a great place to eat at lunchtime BTW).

Nils, just finished that smoked salmon... thanks again.

Cheers

Thanks for the tip Mike, I will certainly try to locate those shops.

I was doing some googling yesterday and found some shops in Cannes; Bar à Vin (10 rue Marceau), Le Comptoir des Vins (13 boulevard de la République), and La Cave de Forville (3 marché Forville).

Are anyone familiar with any of these shops? Comments?

Thomas

If you travel from Nice to Saint-Tropez you will pass the little village of Gassin. This is 10km before Saint-Tropez. There is a wineshop, les maitres vignerons de Saint-Tropez, which is nice. I tried their Château de Pampelonne in red, white and rosé and I liked it.

Vin/vins is in Rue Biscarra, which runs from Jean Medecin (just behind l´Etoile). Have lunch there. Yes, yes, yes, you have to. This is a must. Part des Anges is on rue Gubernatis, two blocks North by Northwest from Felix Faures.

If you have to surrender to the lures of supermarkets, Monoprix (corner Biscarra/Jean Medecin) is better than either Casino or Champion.

Cheers

Nils Gustaf

Thanks Nils, Robért and Mike

I will look for these shops when I'm there.

Thomas
