fermenting

my wine seemed to have fermented out. hydrometer was 990, no bubbles through the airlock. I racked it off a week ago, added 1 camden tablet (1 gallon demijohn) and moved it to a colder place. When I checked it today the rubber bungs have blown off, so I deduce the wine is still fermenting I thought the camden tablet and the lower temp would have completely stabilised it. Should I leave it or refit the airlocks and move back into the warm?

Many thanks regards...Alex K

Hi , The Campden tablets and stabiliser create a chemical reaction and would have blown your bungs off. Leave the wine in a cool place bit I suggest that you keep the airlock on for some time after stopping the wine or first racking. It cetainly wont do the wine any harm. I hope this is of help regards Peter

Peter is right but I would not have thought this reation would blow off an airlock. I am guessing that you used a solid rubber bung. Not a good idea. You should continue to use an airlock during bulk aging.
