using a turkey baster pull out the wine needed, you should have gotten a tube that the hydrometer came in, put the wine in that to take your reading. make sure your sterilize everything before you put anything into your wine.

the gadget you have is to pinch off a hose as you are bottling or syphoning.

hope this helps.

yes, the tube - i never thought about it - it had that paper with gravities/potential alcohol contents inside - i never thought of taking it out

thanks a lot

your hydrometer should have come in a glass tube. using a turkey baster, take wine from the carboy and put into the tube after inserting the hydrometer. make sure to sanitize everything before touching the wine.
