Vinbrite Filter Question

I have a Vinbrite Filter and have been using a Crystal Brite pad with a Vinbrite paper filter underneath it, per their instructions. I just filtered a wine and it has tiny white particles floating in it. This has happened on other wines also. Has anyone had this problem? Also, how did you solve it. Does anyone have any experience with the Mini Jet filter?

I upgraded directly to the superjet instead of the minijet- good price on ebay for 180$. The suspended particles are most likely filter paper dust- get rid of them by washing/filtering/recycling the first bit of fluids thru the filter press.

If you do go for a superjet I can recommend some 3rd party (actual industrial pads) that are sterile filtered to 0.4micron. They not only last longer (I've done 20 gallons and had only a 5PSI increase) they're about 50% the cost- you just have to punch your own holes in them.

I'm guessing the minijet can be use modified pads too- you'll just have to cut the 20cm ones down to size and punch the holes that way.

Let me know if you want more details- HarborFreight sells a steel punch set for 2$ or so with coup> I have a Vinbrite Filter and have been using a Crystal Brite pad

It can also be carton dust in the bottles and is quite common/normal. Carton/ cardboard dust doesn't look like much until it rehydrates in your wine. A quick rinse will address that problem if it concerns you and you have the time. HTH

They're sold by AftekFilters.com - Jim or Ed.

I use the Sterile 40 - 0.40 micron pads. I have to punch holes in them tho- made a jig from some Acrylic and purchased a punch set from HF. Couple of good smacks with the hammer into Aluminum foil and the holes are made.

I may start recycl> I would like more details on the pads you use with your SuperJet. >
