Water in a Wine Kit

Feb 02, 2005 2 Replies

I've only made a kit wine once before and have purchased another to give it a go again. I have a kit to make shiraz. I have to add lots of water to the juice concentrate from reading the instructions. I am leery of using tap water. Here in Las Vegas, NV the tap water is not that great tasting IMHO. Will it affect the taste of the finished wine? Would using store bought distilled water make a difference?

I avoid using tap water because I don't want any chlorine going into the juice I'm about to ferment. Instead, I use bottled spring water - the cheapest I can find.
