bend the end of a coat hanger so it will fit through the hole in the bung, but still "grab" the edge once it's through. After you get it out, hang it on the wall for future problems

The stopper should not affect the wine at all. Buy another stopper ASAP and use that instead of the saran wrap, why take chances with your wine if a new stopper is less than a dollar? Now for the removal part. once the wine has been racked out of the carboy, empty out the lees as well (you don't have to but it does make it easier to see what you are doing and won't cause as much of a mess), turn the carboy upside down, the stopper should fall down to the neck (some water might help, but it gets messy again). Now before you go and do this you must make a special tool out of a piece of wire (a wire coat hanger should work), it should have a hook bent into the end with the hook small enough to go through the hole in the stopper. Insert wire tool into carboy, through the stopper hole, hook the far side of the stopper, pull out. Becareful, glass carboys do break if roughly handled, water makes glass slippery. Ken

Happens to me more than I like to admit.

I don't try the caothanger bit. Get a pair of needle nose pliers, put one "jaw" into the hole of the bung grab the outside of it with the other, squeeze, pull, PRESTO! out it comes.

Won't hurt the wine at all, not to worry.
