This use to be a rich, sweet, malty brew, but the six I bought today seems bland and more like a regular lager than an Octoberfest. Anyone else notice this?

I purchased a six last year and thought it wasn't as good as it once was.

I tried it last year and found it bland.
Agreed - unimpressed this year. Patrick W. Heinske -- Central NC, USA snipped-for-privacy@aol.NOSPAMcom
Yeah, felt the same way. Picked up a twelve pack last week and was pretty disappointed.
OTOH, I had a Hacker-Shoor fest at dinner last night and was blown away. Maybe the best Oktoberfest I've ever had.

Try Spaten oktoberfest, good stuff
Yea, I have had the Spaten. The Sam Adams was first to hit the shelves here. I'm waitng for the Spaten and Paulaner, should be here this week.

It's always been their worst beer.
Hope this helps!
Sorry, that didn't help. Their worst was the Cherry Wheat.

I agree and I recommend trying Pumpkin Ale. I know they don't have it every where, but if you have a chance to pick some of it up I would highly recommend it. It is only around in October from where I'm from in NJ and is worth getting.
Yeah, I tried that once and thought it was atrocious.
There are a lot of pumpkin ales. I've tried Dogfish Head's example recently, and it was alright (it seemed to be flavored with nutmeg and not pumpkin, though).
I just picked up a case myself. Just as good as ever.
