McCallum Perfection Scots Whisky 1 gallon

Howdy

I have a 1 gallon bottle with a serial number of McCallums Perfection Scots Whisky (not Scotch) which is about I would say at least 30 years old. Won in a darts contest in the early 70s. Cork is still in it, it has lost about 2 inches to evaporation through the cork, it is in a wooden cradle and has a back label with serial number and a gothic script poem about war or something on old brown paper.

Anyone know its background, is it worth anything (I wouldn't sell it, it is sentimental and some day we will drink the bastard) and is it still drinkable?

I only know a little bit about your bottle. The brand is currently owned by Diageo Plc so you can do research on the history of the Brand and may be able to inquire about your specific bottle. Ardbeg is one of the whiskies blended in McCallums Perfection so it should have a nice smokey-peaty profile to some degree. I couldn't guess at the value but I assume it may have been bottled for a special occasion or with select whiskies giving rise for the desire to serialize it. This could mean it was a limited bottling as well. All of those attributes could add value.

Thank you sir, that is a good start point! If you don't mind, I will keep any progress I make on the provenance and value etc of this bottle posted here. Thanks again.
