Second brew I've had that packed 120 IBUs. The first was DFH 120 Minute Ale and I found it absurdly sweet. This one is just too darned hoppy for a Barleywine Style Ale imo.
Still, of the 2, I'd go with the Old Crusty.
Best regards, Bill

Fortunately, I don't suffer from this affliction. "Old Crusty" is my fave.

How old was the Crusty, Bill? Although I love it fresh, a few years of age certainly mellow it. BTW, although it's hoppy, I don't find it TOO hoppy for an Am. style BW. But tastes vary, huh?

Yep, it was fresh and I'm going to stash the other 4 bottles away. Something I'm likely to do with the other bottles of Impy IPA and Stout I have. After trying one of my 2002 vintage Alaskan Smoked Porters the other day, I'm now a firm believer of aging.

I love Crusty so much that I find it hard to get myself to put some away. About 3 years ago, I bought a case for 1/2 price at a warehouse sale, thinking that way I'd have enough to stash some. I checked the other day and there were only 3 bottles left! I need some more self control.

Old Crusty is near puckering ain't it?!
Its just one of those that can only hold just a slight chill, as that malt needs to warm up to match the IBUs.
And its much more drinkable than the 120 min IMO. That one was way too sweet.
Thanks for the encouragement, Scott! I actually bought the case on my
50th birthday, thinking that's what i'd do. Somehow, things kinda got away from me. I'll _try_ to follow your command!--------->Denny
