Just got back from Eastbourne beer festival. Good festival - arranged well with area for those that like the music and areas well away from the awful din (!). Very good selection of beers, but I'm wondering about the money side of things..
I thought it was usual to pay for the beer with tokens; any that you didn't use you could refund. There were clear signs saying that there was no refunds on unused tokens.
Also - £5 just to get into the place - am I mean, or is that a bit steep ?
If it was a CAMRA festival then it is against CAMRA's policies not to give refunds where tokens are used - and rightly so (I proposed the motion several years ago).
I would class that extremely steep unless in included something extra.

It's not a CAMRA festival as such although a lot of the staff are CAMRA members and CAMRA cooling is used. I think the programme said something along the lines of "Organised by Eastbourne Council in association with CAMRA and Beer Seller" I thought £2.80 for anything above about 5% was a bit steep I must say!

Well, if it wasn't a CAMRA festival I'd be VERY surprised - I've never seen so many and so big CAMRA posters.

OK, then - rephrase the original question:
"How much do you pay for your souvenir beer festival glass" ?
We ran the second Melton Beer Festival last month - run by CAMRA though with no CAMRA budget - there was no entry fee before 6pm and after that it was (I think) £2 to cover the cost of the band. All beer was £1 a half except Bonce Blower which at 11%ABV went out at £2.
