Will shortly be travelling to Paris and Toulouse. Grateful for any suggestions on 'must see' bars etc in these cities.

Thanks in advance and cheers, Graham.

Try also on fr.rec.boissons.bieres. IIRC there's a brewpub in Toulouse (a Frog and Rosbif ?)

yes, & another in Bordeaux (& one in Lisbon too!) I went out to Paris a few years back for an interview to brew at the Toulouse & Bordeaux Frogpubs, but I didn't like the sound of trying to run 2 breweries in different cities.

I've not been to the Toulouse or Bordeaux pubs, but I liked the original Paris Frog&Rosbif; the 2nd one (Frog&Princesse) seemed less distinctive & characterful, the Bercy one wasn't open yet when I was out there last.

Talking of Paris brewpubs, there was an OK one quite near to the Princesse - with lovely copper brewplant & a decent-ish wheat beer IIRC. This was in late 1999, so I don't know if it's still going? cheers, Mike.

Is Frog French for Firkin?

No, IIRC there were a handful of Firkin brewpubs in France, and that was a diffferent company.

For Paris:-

This is a pretty comprehensive list:

I reccommend the Pub St Germain as one of the best beer specialists anywhere (though pricey). The Frog and Princess and O'Neills brewpubs are in the area too. There is a pub near Chatelet metro which serves that rarity of rarities, good Aussie beer, eg Cooper's Stout and a few others. Why isn't there anything like that in London ?
