Brakspear's not Special any more?

Question

Odd & sad if unconirmed & unaccredited report (*) that Refresh/ Wychwood/Brakspear last month ceased brewing Braskpear Special.

Anyone closer to the source got any more info?

- "Refresh UK was set up in 2000 as a contract brewing business by some of the former managers of Ushers. Refresh UK now have two brewing plants of their own in Witney. Production of Brakspear Special draught ale is scheduled to end at the end of June 2007." which in itself, AFAIK isn't entirely correct - there is only one brewing plant (brewhouse) at Witney, with 2 fermenting rooms for Wychwood & Brakspear. (& Mann's, Ushers, etc, I'm not sure!)

Aye & no mention on Refresh's site or the Brakspear pub co site (nowowned by JT Davies).Still I can't believe Wikipedia is wrong though ;~)TTFNMike.

Wikipedia is not a "primary source".Every information on a wikipedia page should be backed by areference... that news about Brakspear was not, so after reading thisthread I removed it from the page.(BTW anyone could make such corrections, even if he is notregsistered).ciaomax(previously maxbeer or Rosalba & Massimo)

Hi Max,good on you for editing the wiki entry - I wonder where it came from?I previously edited the same entry a while back when there was a loadof nonsense up there about the dropping system (which now seems to beknown as the 'double drop' for some reason) though pro-writers havealso made a mess of that one before - saying that the beer spentseveral days in the upper vessel, rather than simply being dropped thenext day.I've just corrected the bit about refresh having 2 brewing plants atWitney - they have one brewhouse & 2 fermentation rooms (one with theBrakspear 'dropping vessels')cheersMikeMcG
