Bright Beer.

Had some beer from a brewer the other day. They said that it was bright and had to be drunk in a few days. However, there was still quite a lot of sediment in it. Is this normal for bright beer?

I'm not complaining, don't get me wrong, I thouroughly enjoyed the beer and would buy again, but I'm just curious.

Cheers!

There shouldn't really be sediment in bright beer. It's essentialy draught beer put in a container rather than a glass, though obviously drawn straight from a cask rather than a handpump.

The sediment suggests it wasn't bright beer, despite what you were told. I suppose you may have collected some of the sediment from the bottom of the original cask though - not good.

Annoyingly, I had the opposite happen with a poly of mild from a v well-respected midlands micro a few months back - I'm sure there was v little if any yeast in it (none visible on bottom of poly after a few days 'settling').

I wanted it 'real' as I was fairly sure we weren't going to finish it at the party, so thought it would keep better (& gain condition) for a while - it stayed fresh for a bit, but was v v flat. MikeMcG
