Milton Keynes

I'm staying in central Milton Keynes in a couple of weeks and the hotel "doesn't do ales" (!)

Is there anywhere within walking distance of the railway station that does a decent pint?

Wetherspoons, Midsummer Boulevard, Bouverie Square is the only place i have found within walking distance

of the railway station. 10 minutes or so - depends on how you cross the roads. Pedestrians not welcome.

Why don't you have a car you pleb!

For walking distance the Wetherspoons is about your only option.

For something different take a cab from the railway station to the Victoria in Bradwell Village - probably about a Fiver - and try MK's very own Brewery, Concrete Cow, been brewing about a month ...

No I don't.

It was meant as town planners expect evryone to drive everywhere.

No signs and very little thought given to pedestrians in Milton Keynes and most other places.

Sorry if I hurt any car drivers feelings.

Sorry - my misunderstanding. I've never been to the place.

Hmm, it has recently been voted one of the best places to live in the UK. Its "suburban" character, allowing individual houses with gardens, must be a major contribution to that.

At the risk of appearing ungrateful........

I went to this place on Sunday evening - about a twenty minute walk from the town centre. I asked about the Concret Cow brewery which the website above clearly says they sell. The "barmaid" (for want of a better description) looked at me blankly, asked the other staff, and then told me quite categorically that they had no idea what I was talking about. She then turned back to serving the thugs that this place seems to attract.

Mind you, the pub over the road was far better cleaner, and the clientelle didn't want a fight, so the evening wasn't all bad :o)
