The Next Best Thing to THE VAULTS Re-opening

As some of you will already know, there have been developments in the relocation of The Vaults. Jude Crighton, formerly of The Vaults (and most recently seen keeping her hand in at the Criterion) and myself have formed a new company called, appropriately, Out Of The Vaults Ltd.

Our task was to find a new home for The Vaults' band of followers. As it happened, finding the venue was surprisingly easy, although it has taken quite a time to get it finalised. Hopefully this will be completed by the time you get to read this. The new pub, also called Out Of The Vaults, will be located on King Street, a mere 150 metres from our former home, at what used to be a bar called Vin Quatre.

There may be a few small changes to what people were used to. Windows will take some coming to terms with, as will having the cellar beneath the bar!! But the basics that the Vaults was known for, good company and good ale, will still be there.

All that remains is for the pumps (kindly donated by the former Vaults owner Simon Postlethwaite) to be installed, and for the small army of volunteers to get the place tidied up and ready to open. This should hopefully be happening around the end of February. With a CAMRA preview night planned before the opening, keep your ear to the ground and your elbows flexed.

I work nearby. No sign of activity yet. I hope all is set for an end of February opening. I didn't frequent the vaults enough when it was open - I'm going to make the most of Out of the Vaults.

Still held up by paperwork, no need to panic yet. Lets face it, any time property and lawyers are involved it always takes longer than expected!

Latest I heard from Paul is about 4 weeks, so end of march seems more likely....solicitors being the cumbersome beasts they are.
