Wetherspoons-Lloyds

Anyone else noticed the increased rate that JDW seems to be converting all its pubs into Llyods? At one time, they were low turn over or new builds. Then it was the turn of venues that were felt to benefit most from late hours. These usually didn't shift much cask. Now locally, pubs in Manchester and Sale are both getting the treatment. These both have two floors and (did),sell a lot of real ale. Lloyds have a much (if any), reduced range of real ale. To me, this is, further proof, that JDW are slowly getting out of the real ale market and going the old Hogshead route. And look what happened to Whitbread.

I believe the current GBG-listed Banker's Draft in Sheffield is going the same way :-(

I'd give Wetherspoons 2 years max before they're taken over by someone else.

That is sad. The Bankers Draft was definitely one of their best ones. With them boasting more entries than any other pubco, looks like the GBG will get a shake up as well.
