Better lager, probably

I like this letter in the Guardian...

If a crisis (Brewery workers vote for strike, November 23) means that authentic Carlsberg lager has to be imported from Denmark to replace supplies from Northampton, perhaps discerning drinkers would benefit from a few more crises in the world of mega-breweries. Rev Geoff Reid Bradford

It'd take several crises to make me drink that stuff!

Well I've been to Denmark a few times recently - once I was out with a beer fan who introduced me to some excellent Carlsberg bottled beers - much better than the UK stuff (anything usually is). Mind you,I don't want workers laid off, but they must know they are making inferior products.

I know of Carlsberg 47 (Vienna-style beer available seasonally around Christmas time) and Elephant (a strong bock-style beer), but I've never tried either. Both are supposedly a very different proposition to the standard "pilsner", which is piss wherever it is made.
