Does anyone know how long (in hours/days) sanstar is effective? I have some sitting sealed in a carboy for the last two weeks and wondering if i can still use it.

I'm at work, so I can't check this myself, but I think there is something on the label about the color of the solution changing as its capability decreases. Check it out.

Do you mean STAR SAN? Star san is tested with pH paper ...if it's acid it's ok
Iodophor is the one whose color is used
Star San is clear

It can last years. As long as it isn't cloudy and the pH is under 3, it's OK.
