Victoria Bitter

Does anyone know a good beer kit for an Austrialian Victoria Bitter. I can't get the beer in Canada so thought I would try a kit.

It's a terrible beer!

If you insist on copying it this should get you close-

LME to about 1040 og Pride of Ringwood Hops to 30IBU's

10gm Pride of Ringwood Hops 10 minutes before end of boil Saflager S04 or just about any other lager yeast

S04 is an ale yeast, not a lager yeast.

Right you are, I meant S-23....

With that said neither of these two yeast strains contribute much flavour to the final product, I doubt there would be much difference in the final product if it was fermented at a lowish temp, say around 12c-15c.... it'd just take longer with the ale yeast.

Has anyone here done this?

If you can get your hands on Morgans brewing kits then I would recommend

Morgans Australian Bitter

1kg Dry Body Blend 250g Dextrose + 200g if kegging 12g Goldings finishing hops

Cheers,

Yep, any generic Australian lager should do it. I know a guy who worked at CUB (and damn he makes good home brews). He said the way they make VB etc is to just make up their big batches of lager, and then the duty taste expert comes around, tastes the various brews, and says, "Bottle this one as VB,this as Carlton Draught, this as Melbourne Bitter," etc.

Ahh, but abscence makes the heart grow fonder... Red

Maybe so, but this is VB we're talking about... even absence isn't going to improve it much.

VB... Vaginal Backwash.
