Guinness

Every year I tossed down a couple of pints celebrating the snakes being driven out of Ireland. Coincidentally this time the days after I also tossed down some Dian Hong Golden Buds and Yunnan Black Gold. I dont think Im seeing lephrecauns but those two teas taste much like Guinness without the alcohol. The taste of those two teas have been driving me nuts for years. Where have I tasted this before.

I managed a Smithwicks, but now it is time for a yummy La Fin du Monde. I'll try to see if it reminds me of any teas :)

Any new bars in my metro area are Irish pubs but in name only. The latest one attached to new twin residential towers with the upscale shopping and entertainment so you dont have to drive anywhere after a long day. It had a Snug all right but enclosed the dining area not the bar. An Irish priest couldnt even get plastered. Its one of those bars with stations where you cant see the other end. All run by

30 somethings more interested in each other than the patrons. I guess that is the reason they have wifi in this one. The only positive thing I can say it opens at 11am so I can toss down a couple by noon and have the rest of the day to recover. There is one pub I like which serves chips with curry gravy. Yum, yum, yum with a snakebite in the middle of summer. Sort of an Irish YinYang. If I want to chat it up with somebody on the bar stool I go to the nearby suburban biker bar where I can see the latest in $20k hogs. I dont know where the Japanese bikers drink.

PS Finally got a cheap enough camera at Big Lots that can take decent pictures. Here is one of my Puer tongs that cost me everybit of $18 in 2005. It is most likely a 2003 shu XiaGuan via Hong Kong because I bought it off the shelf in a grocery store. Got to do something about that date but at least I know the year of the camera probably a refurbish.
