2006 Dagueneau Pouilly Fume Silex

I shared a bottle of 2006 Silex yesterday at lunch with a friend. We had a tasty grilled seafood salad and the wine was a good match. Very tight nose at first (the bottle was a bit too cold) but it opened up in a few minutes to show a fair amount of orange marmalade and lemon zest with a pronounced salty minerality. Fairly lean at first on the palate with a fair amount of zingy acidity but it quickly fattened up a bit and there was a fair amount of lemon and grapefruit flavors with a slightly floral background and a lot of stones on the finish. Nice "B+/A-"

I like Silex when I can afford it which isn't often and hard to find around here. One of the best Sauvignon Blancs out there.

thanks for notes. Will be interesting to see what happens with the Dagueneau winws after Didier's death.
