A seller recommended this based on my tastes. Was skeptical at first but de cided to give it a go after tasting a Jadot burgundy on a trip that was wea k but had potential. This is a producer that liked oak more than usual in b urgundy, and from an area that tend to produce more rustigue and powerful w ines. I was pleasantly surprised. Pop and pour it was a bit unsettled. Musk y earthy woody notes and slight bitterness. after some airing and manchego it really blossomed. dark raspberry balanced out all those soil and forest flavours and gave a nice smooth caressing feeling. I do miss some tannin st ructure, but thats not this type of wine. I think I can appreciate this on its own terms. It does remind me of my favorite pinot - Marimar Cristina, w hile lacking something, but it is also 15E cheaper, and much easier to get my hands on. So I guess I can consider this one my "mini - cristina". What' s more impressive is that my wife - who normally calls burgundy "dish water liquid" - took a sip and said "leave the glass here, I like it".
So Im still looking for the burgundy that will knock my socks off, but this one is certainly a big leap in the right direction.
