Hi Mark,
The best pronunciation guide ever, came from a friend who lived in Oregon for all of 2 years before moving back to the East Coast... as he always said... "It's 'Oregon', the same as in 'Washington'... you don't pronounce it 'Washingtawn', do you????" I think that's the easiest way to explain it.
Ahh... so the point is to give a gisting of a region -- though that begs the question of needing to provide specifics as to places to stay, etc... but point taken. Again, I'd just be cautious about getting into too much content-updating... else you might find yourself pairing wines with Advil! :)
This is just wrong. :) Happens too often for me to count (finding people in the Beaverton area, that is). I live only a few miles from
217. Small world! We should meet up for a glass (or a bottle) sometime. It looks good on paper -- but the implementation would tell whether it's a time-saver or a time-taker. Nevertheless, it sounds ambitious, and I'm very interested to follow your discoveries... and thanks for sharing. :)
Cheers,
David
