[FAQ] 3g. Oregon?

Hi Mark,

The best pronunciation guide ever, came from a friend who lived in Oregon for all of 2 years before moving back to the East Coast... as he always said... "It's 'Oregon', the same as in 'Washington'... you don't pronounce it 'Washingtawn', do you????" I think that's the easiest way to explain it.

Ahh... so the point is to give a gisting of a region -- though that begs the question of needing to provide specifics as to places to stay, etc... but point taken. Again, I'd just be cautious about getting into too much content-updating... else you might find yourself pairing wines with Advil! :)

This is just wrong. :) Happens too often for me to count (finding people in the Beaverton area, that is). I live only a few miles from

217. Small world! We should meet up for a glass (or a bottle) sometime.

It looks good on paper -- but the implementation would tell whether it's a time-saver or a time-taker. Nevertheless, it sounds ambitious, and I'm very interested to follow your discoveries... and thanks for sharing. :)

Cheers,

David

No, I've found quite a few people get the "gon" in Oregon wrong. It's 'gon' as in, 'WashingTON', not like in 'GONE'.

Good point... I'll never understand why Houston showed up in NYC.. everyone knows it's really a city in Texas.. :)
