I thought I found a wonderful place to buy wine at LOW prices. The ebay of wine, winecommune.com. I started buying from them back in July, and have been quite happy. That is, until the other day. When I opened up my 86 Ducru Beaucaillou, it smelled of musty, damp cardboard.
My first corked wine. :( It tasted even worse. Aerating it did not help.
I contacted the seller to see if I could get a refund or exchange. He said no, sorry, that thing happens from time to time, and that's the chance you take when buying wine. I'm hoping that's not totally true. I understand restaurants will replace it for free. Okay, but I'm not dealing with a restaurant.
I wrote to winecommune.com. They said that there is nothing they could do, but they are surprised the seller is not willing to work with me (his rating is over 1600, and I already left positive feedback back in August after I received the bottle). I was surprised too.
Do I have any "legal" recourse? Seller is in California. Any law? Anything?
Thanks in advance, a very angry \/
